Pepperman rumbled out of Southend in mid '97 and following on from two or three well received demo tapes and some rather tasty gigs, made their debut appearance 'proper' on the first Radio Organ compilation album (alongside the embryonic Pulkas and the first moves of Liberty 37, as well as King Prawn and the excellent punk-o-rama chaos of Glueball) - Kerrang talked of "twisted Helmet-y metal that's rivet welding heavy" - everyone talked of great things to come and it looked like there could be something rather special brewing in the Pepperman pot.... Here at Org we followed the three compilation tracks with a tape only EP of dark Rollins/Tool style rumblecore, the tape received great reactions all over the world, picked up on by many of the significant underground punk/metal zines/radio stations, well over 2000 copies have been sold to-date..... and that's, my friends, is all there is: Pepperman weren't really interested in taking it any further, they split in early '98 to set up other projects within the ever evolving Southend hardcore/metal community (incest city or what). Right now the combination of various members of Pepperman and Above All in a new band called Light Of The Morning looks like your best bet for the future.... So maybe that's not all there is... It's tempting to gather all those demo tapes and put them together on CD...
