SUNLOUNGER - latest update 1st NOVEMBER 2003
SUNLOUNGER "....the kind of rhythmic, testosterone sleaze rock that sings of hookers, dirty women, and systematic violence. Sounding like Led Zeppelin on crack with Lemmy supplying vocals, the Barnsley trio are shaping up to be an impenetrable force, held together by the steely stare and lip-curling cool of their menacing singer" Metal Hammer
SUNLOUNGER - THE DEBUT ALBUM "SOME IS GOOD, MORE IS BETTER, TOO MUCH IS JUST RIGHT" is eleven slices of beautiful low slung rock and roll, it came out on ORG back in 2001 and YOU need it.. The reviews tell you everything about this classic English three piece....WHERE ARE THEY NOW? NOVEMBER 1st 2003
SUNLOUNGER have resurfaced as G. U. Medicine and hit the road in November for a string of dates (something they forgot to do when they were actually called Sunlounger and some mug of a label pressed a load of their brilliant albums for them). The quartet - who also feature current members of noise crew P>S>P – are currently working on material for their debut album which will surface on Undergroove in 2004. Hailing from Barnsley and inspired by all things heavy, depraved and filthy, G U Medicine are a lethal concoction of good time rock 'n' roll, furious noisecore riffs mixed up with plenty of power and the all-important groove factor! “The future of Collision Rock starts here!” the future were once called Sunlounger, and when next you here a band moaning about a record label not supporting them take a second to question why bands never seem to give a flying toad about independent labels when the labels actually take the risk of sinking money in to pressing their CDs. The “we’re not called Sunlounger anymore but don’t tell anyone because we want to pretend we’re a new band” tour kicks off on November 4 in Boston at Axe and Clever, them - 05 Carlisle – Brickyard, 06 Birmingham - Royal George, 07 Manchester – Witchwood, 08 Plymouth - phoenix bar. 10 Bournemouth - Mr Smiths, 11 Stoke – Talbot, 12 Nottingham - Junction 7, 13 Mansfield - Town Mill 14 Hartlepool – Studio 16 London - KBY @ Monarch London. - www.gumedicine.co.uk
PRESS QUOTES AND SUCH
no way of evaluating this other than turning it up to eek! levels and surrendering.
It's a pure physical fix that Sunlolunger give you, but they press it home
with such winning style, wit and a genuinely instinctive understanding
of what make great classic rock work. A worthy UK companion piece to The
Workhorse Movement's 'Sons Of Pioneers'. You'll few higher recomendations
all year" 9/10 Neil Kulkarni, Metal Hammer

"One day soon you will love Barnsley's Sunlounger, because they crash with total conviction, not a little wit, and a shit-sack of love into the frontal lobes with their keg-kicking rock'n roll joyousness..... you'll slaver for them after they've gone. The glorious riffs feed you more than you can chew. When was the last time you actually danced to a rock band?" 4.5/5 Sarah Bee, MELODY MAKER.
