Thing of the Day
The Head and the Heart, a new single, a rather fine download and some live footage from KEPX
March 4th 2011
A breezy kind of mellow
Thing Of The
Day for today and a new single for Seattle’s The Head And The
Heart…
THE HEAD AND THE HEART – Lost In My Mind (Heavenly) – Folksy Americana, mellow piano melodies, vocal harmonies, bit of a Fleet Foxes, Grand Archives, Holden, Crosby Stills Nash & Young feel, though more emphasis on the instrumental side, rather just being about those Crosby and company glories of harmony. Infectious alt.Americana, minimalist drums that invite those hand claps and those celebrations… Sound like a lot of pleasant mellow uplifting alternative folksy flavoured things that are about right now, not sure how many of these bands are going to stick in our heads (or our hearts) for any significant amount of time, but this is a pleasant, enjoyable, well-crafted single...
Meanwhile you can find a
free and legal
download of a rather beautifully delicate song called Down In The
Valley on their website, where they seem happy to
celebrate the fact
that they’re on Sub Pop… Says Heavenly on this CD, guess one
label is as good as another on a dull looking London friday morning,
we guess Sub Pop is the Seattle band’s hometown label and Heavenly is
their European home.
Fine songs, mellow alt.country folky goodness…
The single is out in the UK on March 7th…

Here’s some nice footage of the band on Seattle’s rather good radio station KEPX:
