Organ on the Radio

The Organ hour - broadcasting at Resonance104.4FM every Sunday,9pm-10pm

The OTHER ROCK SHOW is presented by Marina O - The Other Rock Show is about exploring 'other' time signatures within structures of rock and filtering out the conventions of the 4/4 time easy option in favour of something a little more challenging.

Meanwhile on the ORGAN THING Sean O will be bringing you an eclectic mix of diverse left-field things from all points in between and beyond - the best new releases and demos that are circulating around the underground fanzine channels and landing here in the Organ office, along with news of forthcoming events and general alternative music news and goings on in and around London.  Expect an hour of challenging alternative music each week, the kind you don’t often get on ‘normal’ music radio shows and stations, expect special guests, expect who knows what...

Welcome back my friends, to the show that never plays ELP, because Egg were better

1: WORLD EXCLUSIVE! Probably. - the new CAPILLARY ACTION album is to be released sometime aroung April this year and here is the ORS first play  - it's to be called 'Capsized' and it's coming out on Natural Selection. There's a taster here:

2: THE TEA CLUB are from Deptford... no, not that hellhole, but Deptford, New Jersey! They sound like they're from Bath or somewhere in deepest Sussex - pastoral post-rock blending into proper progressiveness...this is from their recent album 'Rabbit'

3: PAPAYE - Megaplus (Africantape) PAPAYE is a 3-piece outfit full of vitamins and tender flesh (it says here) They're from France, they're great, the album this is from is called La Chaleur, its out on Africantape on Feb 7th 2011 (and on Kythibong as a vinyl LP)  ...

4: VIALKA are from France, they are a duo, Marylise Frecheville and Éric Boros. They play slightly RIO stylee progressive folk with Balkan influences and are currently touring Europe and are in the UK next week19/02/11  London/GB @ The Macbeth and a venue tbc - full list here

5: DAS WANDERLUST have a new album - its called Bones Hooves and Horns and you can get it from here Das Wanderlust are Laura Susan Simmonds and some other people, they're from the north, you can buy their album via their web site - pay what you feel is right:

6: ZACH HILL- House of Hits (Sargent House)  Zach hill, (US drummer/composer extraordinaire, one half of Hella) has a newish album out; called Face Tat, it's out on Sergent House and includes several of his talented friends including Devendra Banhart, No Age (Dean Spunt and Randy Randall), Guillermo Scott Herren (Prefuse 73), Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Carson McWhirter (Hella), Nick Reinhart (Tera Melos, Bygones) . Stop Press! Oh no - Zach's bust his foot, possibly even the magic Foot that makes his single bass drum sound like a double kit and has other drummers murmuring in awe - so some gigs have been cancelled.  The silver lining to this is that he might have some time off from the 20 or so bands he works with to do more band composing and art - both of which are as important as his kitwork.    .

7: TAME IMPALA - Expectations (Modular)  They're from Western Australia, they make rather authentic-sounding psychedelic prog, this is from the album 'Innerspeaker

8: CARDIACS - The Breakfast Line (Alphabet) From their album 'On Land And In The Sea' - a reminder of the brilliance of these pioneers - main man, composer/vocalist/guitarist is seriously ill after a devastating stroke two years ago, read more about the tribute/fundraising album 'Leader of the Starry Skies' here

9: CAPILLARY ACTION - Sweepstakes (see above)

10: SLINT - Nosferatu Man ...a classic, influential track from Slint, one of many, many free and legal downloads that the original web site educated us with at the turn of the millenium. Epitonic lost it a bit after getting into bed with The Man for a bit, but now the site is back in the control of the original creators and back on form

Finally, an outro from the Other Rock Show house band,  US outfit UPSILON ACRUX - latest rumours on UA are that the line-up has changed again and new work and gigging is happening... this track was from one of their earlier albums In The Acrux of the Upsilon King - for more recent work look no further than here

Same time same place on Resonance 104.4FM next Sunday when Sean O presents an all-purpose Organ Thing, full of the best of new underground/alternative/diy music, events and art to have flown to the Organ Bunker or strayed across our paths...  ta for listening, Marina O
