THE DETAILS...
From Japan, and singing in
their own invented language similar to Magma's Kobaian dialect, KOENJIHYAKKEI
is the full-on avant-progressive band headed by Ruin's Tatsuya Yoshida.
This is from their new, remastered re-issue of their 2001 album 'Nivraym"
just released on Skin Graft Records with extra added sax, clarinet, keyboards
and vocals! www.skingraftrecords.com
VIALKA is a French duo (Marylise
Frecheville and Eric Boros) that somehow sounds like an orchestra; this
is from their 2008 album 'Plus Vite Que La Musique" produced by Thinking
Plague's Bob Drake - www.vialka.com
and www.bdrak.com
Oakland California's GORGE
TRIO have been working on this album for some years! And it shows - their
pedigree includes members of Deerhoof, Flying Luttenbachers and Sicbay
(ie 3/4 of Colossamite). www.skingraftrecords.com
for more info
Legendary seventies progressive
band GENTLE GIANT have semi-reformed (at last!), with three of the founder
members playing tentative low-key gigs under the name Three Friends...
glowing reports on places like progressiveears.com
The remarkable JONO EL GRANDE
is apparently some kind of tabloid celebrity in Norway, hanging out with
the Norwegian royal family, yet this album is a world class blend of Gentle
Giant, Canterbury scene, Magma and Zappa, successfully mixing avant and
old-school prog the way few others do. www.runegrammofon.com
Chicago underground legends,
pranksters and all round undefinables CHEER ACCIDENT, from their recently
released acclaimed album 'Fear Draws Misfortune' www.cheer-accident.com
- go to www.cuneiformrecords.com
to download lots of full mp3s of forthcoming and recent releases , touring
Europe soon (but no UK dates confirmed!)
This download by UK band
GUAPO can be found on the Neurot site - www.neurotrecordings.com
- Guapo currently includes members of Cardiacs, Nought and Miasma And The
Carousel Of Headless Horses
A burst of Buds And Spawn
from England's CARDIACS from their 'Greatest Hits' album; 'the finest band
to walk the face of the planet' as someone once said, sadly brought low
by illness last year in the midst of tour plans and creativity. www.cardiacs.com

WHAT
IS RESONANCE FM?
Resonance104.4fm
is London's first radio art station..
Its
brief? To provide a radical alternative to the universal formulae of mainstream
broadcasting. It features programmes made by musicians, artists and critics
who represent the diversity of London's arts scene, with regular contributions
from Billy Jenkins, Savage Pencil, John Bisset, Mike Barnes, Matthew
Glammore, Peter Cusack, Caroline Kraabel, Clive Graham, Viv Corringham,
Chris Cutler, Charlie Dark, Magz Hall, Harmon E. Phraiser, Paul Hood, These
Records, Dave Draper, the Kosmische Club; guests like Faust, Gavin Turk,
Shirley Collins and The Magic Band; and numerous one-off special broadcasts
by artists on the weekday "Clear Spot".
Resonance104.4fm
is bringing a multitude of experimental sound, new music, radio art and
interaction to the capital's airwaves. Resonance104.4fm broadcasts from
the heart of London and is simultaneously streamed on the web at www.resonancefm.com
where you can also check out our full programme listings. Resonance104.4fm
is the only station of its kind in the UK, providing access radio for London's
arts community.
Imagine
a radio station like no other. A radio station that makes public those
artworks that have no place in traditional broadcasting. A radio station
that is an archive of the new, the undiscovered, the forgotten, the impossible.
That is an invisible gallery, a virtual arts centre whose location is at
once local, global and timeless. And that is itself a work of art. Imagine
a radio station that responds rapidly to new initiatives, has time to draw
breath and reflect. A laboratory for experimentation, that by virtue of
its uniqueness brings into being a new audience of listeners and creators.
All this and more, Resonance104.4fm aims to make London's airwaves
available to the widest possible range of practitioners of contemporary
art. |
